About The Committee

The Refugee Health Subcommittee aims to educate medical students about the health and inequality issues surrounding refugees living in Adelaide and Australia.

We aim to cover issues relating to refugee camps around the world and to highlight the conditions the refugees have come from. We would like students to have an understanding of the challenges faced by refugee communities as they struggle with memories of the past, family that may still be in the home country, loss of culture and learning English as a second language here in Australia.

In addition we hope to aid medical students in their knowledge about the medical and mental conditions that are of a high prevalence in refugee committees.
