Why We Care
At present, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people can expect to live for 10-17 years less and carry a higher burden of illness than other Australians. Accoring to the 2009 UN Report: The State of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Australia (alongside Nepal) is one of the bottom two nations with the largest gap between Indienous and Non-indigenous people.
The HHRG CARE about these facts. We reckon that although these challenges can seem like impossible tasks at times, doing the bit we can through advocacy, informing our peers and friends, and showing support where it’s needed- we can do our little part to create big change toward health equality of the First Australians.
